Sessions are <span class=\"m_7525670140411520125m_8153008725045207423gmail-aBn\"><span class=\"m_7525670140411520125m_8153008725045207423gmail-aQJ\">9 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/span><\/span> J<span class=\"m_7525670140411520125m_8153008725045207423gmail-aBn\"><span class=\"m_7525670140411520125m_8153008725045207423gmail-aQJ\">uly 24-28 and July 31-August 4 at Northridge Campus recording studios (11928 Stonehollow Dr.).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hosted by the college\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/degrees-and-certificates\/areas-of-study\/arts-digital-media-and-communications\/music-business-performance-and-technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Music Business, Performance and Technology<\/a> (MBPT) Department, the weeklong workshops provide students an opportunity to learn about the industry, record a professional band performance, and create a remix.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are on the leading edge of the music industry in Austin,\u201d says Geoffrey Schulman, MBPT department chair. \u201cIt\u2019s competitive. These workshops give high school students a glimpse at the reality. They learn about the job opportunities and how to get started in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Students will learn how a song is conceived, constructed, and produced, from initial inspiration, rough sketch, and demo, to final recording and mixdown. Students also will learn the basics of music and sound production for film, television, and radio.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops are open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
