Austin Community College (ACC) will close its Pinnacle Campus beginning summer 2018 to evaluate needed repairs, renovations, and possible expansions on site.<\/p>\n

Built in 1984, the 10-story building will require extensive work following a series of assessments that identified areas of concern with the building\u2019s facade, accessibility, and current code requirements.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no immediate safety concern, but we recognize that this timeframe is the best time to move forward,\u201d says Neil Vickers, ACC executive vice president of Finance and Administration. \u201cThe college is well-positioned to reallocate its students, faculty, staff, and classes to other campuses with minimal impact to student services and class offerings.\u201d<\/p>\n

This summer, ACC will open new facilities at its Hays and Round Rock campuses and will open a new campus in Leander.<\/p>\n

During Pinnacle\u2019s closure, ACC will perform a more thorough assessment of the building to identify possible resolutions in the best interest of its students and the community. Possible future options include repairing and renovating the building and\/or expanding ACC\u2019s presence on other parts of the property. The college owns approximately 60 acres on site.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t have specifics at this time but feel this is a prime opportunity to examine how we can create a center of excellence to better serve our southwest region,\u201d says Vickers.<\/p>\n

Classes scheduled for Pinnacle Campus beginning summer 2018 will be rescheduled at other nearby ACC campuses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
