Austin Community College District (ACC) is proud to have one of the best pass rates in the nation for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) in both its Associate Degree of Nursing (RN) and Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN). The NCLEX is one of the most important tests a nursing student can take because passage of the exam determines if it’s safe to begin practice as a nurse.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At ACC, the (licensure exam) pass rates for students who completed the LVN program achieved a first-time test taker pass rate of 98% in 2023. That is a 6.6% increase compared to  the previous year. ACC students who took the NCLEX-RN exame achieved a pass rate of 92.41%, an 11.7% increase compared to the 2022 NCLEX-RN first-time test taker pass rate\u2013\u2013 consistently exceeding state and national averages<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the pandemic, we faced major obstacles to ensure our ensure our nursing students\u2019 success in program completion and licensure exams.\u00a0 This achievement is a testament to the dedication of the faculty and staff as well as the hard work of our amazing students in both programs,\u201d says Dr. Nina Almasy, ACC dean of Health Sciences. \u201cI am so proud of the work ACC\u2019s Nursing Departments achieved to get our students prepared for this exam. The unwavering commitment of Department Chairs Professor McCrary Marshall and Dr. Laurie Dillon to student success has been the driving force. With such dedication and excellence driving our nursing education forward, we are confident in our ability to continue preparing compassionate and competent nurses for the opportunities that lie ahead.”<\/p>\n

ACC provides a full nursing career pathway, from the fast track certified nurse aide<\/a> (CNA) (currently offered at a 50 percent discount as part of the college\u2019s fast-track training programs<\/a>), to an advanced certificate in vocational nursing<\/a> (LVN) or an associate degree in professional nursing<\/a> to become an RN. The college also offers a pathway toward a bachelor\u2019s degree in nursing through the RN-to-BSN program<\/a>. <\/p>\n
