{"id":47888,"date":"2022-10-05T10:31:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-05T15:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=47888"},"modified":"2024-09-13T10:34:42","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T15:34:42","slug":"accs-impact-lab-celebrates-ribbon-cutting-with-local-vips","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/10\/05\/accs-impact-lab-celebrates-ribbon-cutting-with-local-vips\/","title":{"rendered":"ACC\u2019s IMPACT Lab celebrates ribbon-cutting with local VIPs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the Central Texas Manufacturing sector continues to grow, Austin Community College District (ACC) celebrates the grand opening of the ACC IMPACT Lab, the college\u2019s manufacturing incubator.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When: <\/strong>Friday, October 14<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Time:<\/strong> 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Where:<\/strong> ACC Highland, IMPACT Lab<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What:<\/strong> The official ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of the IMPACT Lab includes tours of the facility, a career exploration event for students with opportunities to hear directly from employers and learn about programs at ACC to help you train for a career in manufacturing, and an information session for local manufacturing startups to learn more about setting up shop at the IMPACT Lab.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who:<\/strong> Join local and state VIPs, industry leaders, and ACC administration, faculty, staff, and students..<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In August, the manufacturing industry made headlines <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/news\/2022\/08\/us-sen-cornyn-and-rep-mcmcaul-announce-chips-america-act-acc%E2%80%99s-manufacturing-academy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">when U.S. Senator John Cornyn and U.S. Representative Michael McCaul toured ACC\u2019s manufacturing spaces and shared details on the CHIPS Act.<\/a> The legislation provides $200 million to support workforce development programs, like ACC\u2019s, for the domestic semiconductor industry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The IMPACT Lab is an advanced manufacturing business incubator and training lab located at ACC Highland (6101 Highland Campus Drive). The 5,000-square-foot facility is Austin\u2019s first innovation center focused on physical product development and manufacturing. This facility also provides ACC manufacturing students opportunities to get hands-on experience in the industry.
