{"id":48026,"date":"2022-12-16T12:03:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-16T17:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=48026"},"modified":"2024-10-25T09:47:35","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T14:47:35","slug":"acc-board-of-trustees-december-12-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/2022\/12\/16\/acc-board-of-trustees-december-12-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"ACC Board of Trustees December 12 Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Austin Community College District (ACC) Board of Trustees met for its regular meeting on Monday, December 12, to hear college updates, swear-in new board members, and discuss student success.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Below are highlights from the meeting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ACC recognizes outgoing board member, welcomes new one<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Steve Jackobs was sworn in as ACC&#8217;s newest trustee by the Honorable Gina Hinojosa,<\/p>\n<p>District 49 State Representative. He replaces outgoing trustee Dr. Nora de Hoyos Comstock. Re-elected board members Sean Hassan and Dr. Manuel Gonzalez also were sworn in. Trustees also elected new board officers for 2022-23. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/news\/2022\/12\/acc-board-trustees-welcome-newly-elected-trustee-swear-reelected-trustees-appoint-new\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read more here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Success Report<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The board received an update on the 2021-22 Student Success Report. The report explores academic progress toward three Strategic Plan goals, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Goal 1: Increase Access and Entry\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Highlights on Equity<\/li>\n<li>Fast Track Career Programs<\/li>\n<li>Improved student experiences<\/li>\n<li>Support areas in high-demand career fields<\/li>\n<li>Strategic enrollment management process focused on equity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Goal 2: Improve Persistence and Engagement\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ACC launched a pilot, Academic Alert to connect faculty with the college\u2019s student affairs academic guidance team<\/li>\n<li>Continued focus on distance education to maintain academic continuity<\/li>\n<li>Embedded tutoring support for students in distance education<\/li>\n<li>Student engagement with Student Life, BRASS, Ascender, Phi Theta Kappa, and Student Government.<\/li>\n<li>Support Services with Student Advocacy Centers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Goal 3: Increase Completion &amp; Transfer\/Employment\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The 3-year graduation rate increased from 7.2% to 22.8% over the last four cohorts<\/li>\n<li>ACC is tied as the No. 1 college in the state for transfer success rates<\/li>\n<li>Guided Pathways provides students a clear roadmap to on-time completion and personalized guidance to help them stay on track<\/li>\n<li>Apprenticeships provide support services to ACC academic departments to develop and maintain apprenticeships<\/li>\n<li>Increasing workforce and business\/industry partnerships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Contract for Police Pursuit Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) for the ACC Police Department<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trustees approved a contract for the ACC Police Department to acquire two to three new sport utility vehicles (SUVs).
