{"id":49199,"date":"2019-01-08T09:37:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-08T14:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=49199"},"modified":"2024-10-25T09:39:45","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T14:39:45","slug":"acc-offers-extended-deadline-for-fafsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/2019\/01\/08\/acc-offers-extended-deadline-for-fafsa\/","title":{"rendered":"ACC offers extended deadline for FAFSA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CBS Austin: <a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/acc-offers-extended-deadline-for-fafsa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ACC offers extended deadline for FAFSA<\/a><\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n<p>Austin Community College is extending the deadline for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) program.<\/p>\n<p>Aid programs funded by the State of Texas have a priority deadline of January 15 but ACC says it will be accepting applications through March 1 for the summer semester and through April 1 for the fall semester.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, ACC says FAFSA will not be impacted by the government shut down.<\/p>\n<p>The FAFSA is an online form that allows the government to determine a student\u2019s eligibility for financial aid through federal grants, work study funds, and loans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPaying for college is one of the biggest roadblocks our students face,\u201d says Jason Briseno, executive director of Student Assistance. \u201cWith some federal funds available on a first-come, first-served basis, we encourage our students to apply early.
