{"id":50408,"date":"2020-02-27T13:04:00","date_gmt":"2020-02-27T18:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=50408"},"modified":"2024-11-19T13:06:28","modified_gmt":"2024-11-19T18:06:28","slug":"districtwide-campus-master-planning-process-entering-final-stretch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/2020\/02\/27\/districtwide-campus-master-planning-process-entering-final-stretch\/","title":{"rendered":"Districtwide Campus Master Planning Process entering final stretch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the Districtwide Campus Master Planning Process (DCMP) approximately two-thirds of the way through, the Austin Community College (ACC) Board of Trustees heard an update from the project team at its February 17 work session.<\/p>\n<p>Pfluger Architects, the firm hired to lead the DCMP, is wrapping up the data-gathering portion of the process. The project team met with the following groups:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>North, Central, and South Regional Advisory Committees (RAC)<\/li>\n<li>ACC Health Sciences user group<\/li>\n<li>ACC Applied Tech user group<\/li>\n<li>ACC Student Services user group<\/li>\n<li>ACC ACCelerator, Learning Lab, and Library user groups<\/li>\n<li>Community Meetings for Pinnacle Campus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Below is a summary of the feedback Pfluger received for both short- and long-term plans for the regions and campuses.<\/p>\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">North Region<\/h5>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cypress Creek Campus &#8211; Expand to meet the needs of the community and increase capacity<\/li>\n<li>Northridge Campus &#8211; Explore collaborations with nearby IT companies and establish a high-tech innovation lab incubator<\/li>\n<li>Round Rock Campus &#8211; Expand Applied Tech and Health Sciences programs<\/li>\n<li>San Gabriel Campus &#8211; Work on transportation options and explore commercial development collaborations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Central Region<\/h5>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Eastview Campus &#8211; Expand and renovate Health Sciences program and establish an Early College High School<\/li>\n<li>Elgin Campus &#8211; Expand programs, including an Applied Tech program<\/li>\n<li>Highland Campus &#8211; Continue the expansion<\/li>\n<li>Rio Grande Campus &#8211; Renovate parking garage stairwells to make them more vibrant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">South Region<\/h5>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hays Campus &#8211; Move some skilled trades here, develop Health Science program, and build general education building with an ACCelerator<\/li>\n<li>Riverside Campus &#8211; Modernize campus, replace\/renovate Building D, and expand into part of golf course<\/li>\n<li>South Austin Campus &#8211; Expand into courtyard space and renovate to add ACCelerator<\/li>\n<li>Pinnacle Campus &#8211; New short-term general education building to re-establish ACC presence<\/li>\n<li>Southeast Travis County Land &#8211; Establish a logistics and supply chain management program, build new facility for Applied Tech programs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">All Regions<\/h5>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>IT infrastructure improvements focused on Wifi and campus safety<\/li>\n<li>Highly visible welcome center in each region to serve as one-stop-shop<\/li>\n<li>Partnerships with outside organizations to provide affordable student housing<\/li>\n<li>Lounge space at every campus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With this feedback, the project team will update the site plan of every campus.<\/p>\n<p>Additional meetings will be held with the steering committee and the RACs in April and May.
