Austin Community College District (ACC) is removing barriers for new students to begin their college careers by offering the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment free of charge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The TSI is a state-mandated exam that helps determine college-readiness levels. It\u2019s required for most new students.&nbsp; TSI scores help colleges place students in reading, writing, and math courses suited to their skill levels.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before taking the exam, students must complete a Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA), which explains the test\u2019s purpose, offers practice questions, and outlines how scores are used.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to Take the TSI<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete the PAA \u2013 Students receive a Certificate of Completion after finishing the activity.<\/li>\n<li>Schedule the Exam \u2013 Once admitted to ACC, students can take the TSI for free.<\/li>\n<li>Review Scores \u2013 Results help students and advisors determine appropriate course placement.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who is Exempt?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some students may skip the TSI if they meet specific criteria, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Qualifying SAT, ACT, GED, or HiSET scores.<\/li>\n<li>Completion of a college-level course with a grade of C or higher.<\/li>\n<li>Holding an associate or bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/li>\n<li>Military service or prior TSI determination from another Texas institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students can take the TSI at any ACC campus Testing Center or email <a href=\"mailto:assessments@austincc.edu\">assessments@austincc.edu<\/a> to request virtual remote testing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For more information, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/austincc.edu\/tsi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">austincc.edu\/tsi<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Take the TSI for free at ACC.
