Austin Community College District (ACC) hosts Emergency Preparedness Week during the third week of every semester. From February 3 through 7, the College will share safety tips and advice and will conduct safety drills at campuses across the District.<\/p>\n

“Preparedness is key to ensuring the safety of yourself and those around you in any emergency,” says Dr. Mike Garcia, ACC Executive Director of Safety & Emergency Management. “The College is committed to fostering a safe and secure community. We want to make sure we equip you with the knowledge and resources you need to respond effectively. Now is the time to get familiar with our emergency procedures and learn how to act when there\u2019s an emergency on campus. Being prepared can make all the difference when it matters most.”<\/p>\n

Campus Drills<\/strong><\/p>\n

Drills are scheduled at campuses throughout the week. You can prepare ahead of time by reviewing our emergency egress plans<\/a>. This special map is designed to help you find campus exits and alternate routes. You can also find special rally points at each campus. These are areas to go to in the event of an evacuation. <\/p>\n

Emergency Alert System Test<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, February 5, ACC will test its Emergency Alert System<\/a>. Now is the time to make sure your emergency contact information is up to date. During the test, you\u2019ll receive warning messages through text and email. <\/p>\n

To get ready, verify or update your contact information<\/a>. Emergency message boards and PA speakers around campus also may be activated and a test message will be posted on the ACC website and the District\u2019s Facebook<\/a> page.<\/p>\n

Any message from our Emergency Alert System will display as \u201cACC Emergency Alert.\u201d We recommend you create or update the entry in your phone\u2019s contacts list with the following information: 226787, 67283, 78015, 81437 (enter these \u201cshortcodes\u201d as individual phone numbers) and austincc@getrave.com OR messages@getrave.com (if your phone doesn\u2019t receive short codes). <\/p>\n
