Austin Community College District invites the community to a virtual conversation confronting the realities of gun violence through the lens of art. The conversation features American Roulette artist collective members as part of ACC\u2019s current spring exhibition, American Roulette\u2013Austin: Navigating Gun Culture in our Violent Society<\/em>. The exhibition uses art to raise questions and prompt dialogue around gun violence in the United States. <\/p>\n

American Roulette: A Virtual Conversation<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis exhibition and event are not about taking sides. They\u2019re about creating a space for dialogue, empathy, and understanding,\u201d says Peter Bonfitto, Director of Galleries and Exhibition Programming. \u201cThe goal of the project is to provoke thought, humanize issues, and connect people across differences through powerful artworks. This conversation is meant to  engage the community in meaningful, informed reflection of how gun violence impacts our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event is organized by The Art Galleries (TAG) at ACC, in collaboration with the ACC Center for Peace & Conflict Studies. It is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

The Exhibition will remain on display until Thursday, June 26. Guests can come by from Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. <\/p>\n

About the Exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n

American Roulette\u2013Austin: Navigating Gun Culture in our Violent Society<\/em> is a non-partisan art exhibition that seeks to spark conversation around the realities of gun violence in the U.S. It features artwork from the American Roulette collective alongside pieces from local artists including ACC students and faculty, selected by a jury of curators and collective members.<\/p>\n

Through diverse perspectives and powerful visual storytelling, the exhibition encourages reflection and dialogue around how gun violence affects communities and individuals across the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
