The unanimous decision happened during the board\u2019s regular meeting on Monday, September 8.<\/p>\n<p>The tax rate of $0.1034 (10.34 cents) per $100 valuation ($0.0900 for Maintenance &amp; Operations and $0.0134 for Debt Service).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This means the average property owner in the ACC District will see a 1.6% increase in their ACC tax bill. Based on the adopted rate, the annual amount of taxes imposed on an average home valued at approximately $543,000 will be $562 for the year.<\/p>\n<p>The new rate supports ACC\u2019s approved fiscal year 2026 budget. ACC\u2019s tax rate continues to rank among the lowest of Texas community colleges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Property Tax Exemptions Remain<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>ACC continues to offer some of the most generous tax exemptions in the region:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Homestead exemption: ACC provides a $5,000 homestead exemption to all residential taxpayers (or 1% of property value, whichever is greater).<\/li>\n<li>Exemption for seniors (65+) and homeowners with disabilities: The College also provides an additional $75,000 exemption for seniors and homeowners with disabilities, for a total homestead exemption of $80,000.00.<\/li>\n<li>Commercial property owners: Commercial properties are taxed at the same rate as residential property; however, per Texas Property Tax Code, commercial properties are taxed on both real property and personal property, while residential properties are only taxed on real property.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Annual Budget<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/07\/10\/acc-board-of-trustees-approves-fy26-budget\/\">In July, the Board adopted a $568 million operating budget for FY2026.<\/a> Approximately 67% of ACC\u2019s annual budget comes from property tax revenue, with additional support from tuition, fees, and state funding.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.austincc.edu\/newsroom\/2025\/04\/08\/acc-maintains-tuition-for-12th-year-reinforces-commitment-to-college-affordability\/\">The board voted earlier this year to maintain in-district tuition rates for the 12th consecutive year.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For more information about the college\u2019s budget and tax rate, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/offices.austincc.edu\/operations-and-public-affairs\/public-affairs\/property-taxes\/#:~:text=Exemption%20for%20seniors%20(65%2B),of%20%24185%2C000%20for%20those%20taxpayers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACC Property Taxes web page<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Austin Community College District (ACC) Board of Trustees voted to approve the College\u2019s tax rate for 2025-26.
