We understand that news of this breach\u2014which has impacted several large institutions across the country\u2014may cause concern for our students, faculty, and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Rest assured that ACC systems have not been affected. Because the College utilizes Blackboard as our Learning Management System (LMS), our data and infrastructure remain entirely separate from the affected platform.&nbsp;<em>There has been no compromise of ACC student records, faculty data, or classroom materials related to this event<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>ACC takes all cybersecurity matters seriously. Our security teams are working closely with the State of Texas and national experts in cybersecurity to monitor the situation as it evolves.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What You Should Know<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While we are not directly involved in this breach, these types of high-profile incidents often lead to a secondary wave of \u201ccopycat\u201d phishing attempts. We ask that you remain vigilant. Here are important things to remember and ensure you\u2019re staying safe online:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Verify the Source:<\/strong>\u00a0ACC will never ask for your password, Social Security number, or financial information via email. Always check the \u201cFrom\u201d address to ensure it ends in\u00a0<strong>@<a href=\"http:\/\/austincc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">austincc.edu<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beware of \u201cBreach\u201d Scams:<\/strong>\u00a0Be skeptical of emails claiming your data was leaked and asking you to \u201cclick here to check your status.\u201d These are often traps designed to steal your credentials.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA):<\/strong>\u00a0Ensure your ACC Okta\/Multi-Factor Authentication settings are up to date.
