The first female president. A lawyer. A mechanic. These are just some of the aspirations of the middle school students who participated in this year’s Summer Youth Programs.<\/p>\n
More than 120 at-risk Hispanic and African American students from East and Southeast communities attended the programs at ACC’s Riverside and Eastview Campuses. Each two week session offered students hands-on experiences with different careers and fun-filled academic enrichment activities in math, science, and technology taught by college faculty, giving them a true glimpse of what college will be like. <\/p>\n
Guardians even got to participate in a “Parent Academy” that focused on the role parents have in ensuring the success of their children. <\/p>\n
ACC’s Summer Youth Programs were free to participants who could not otherwise afford the cost of these activities but benefited in learning why staying in school is important. Thanks to the following sponsors:
