Reception Set for 6-8 p.m. September 17<\/h2>\n

The Austin Community College District is marking Constitution Day with its third annual Constitution Day Art Exhibit, which opens Monday, September 13 and runs through October 14.<\/p>\n

The exhibit and contest, held in partnership with ACC’s Center for Public Policy and Political Studies, challenges students to create works that reflect their views on the Constitution. This year’s theme centers on these questions:<\/p>\n

Do we and should we have the right to be left alone? What does that right include?<\/em><\/p>\n

The contest includes divisions in 2D and 3D art, photography, graphic design, poetry, personal essay, political cartoons, and more. Works will be displayed in the foyer of ACC’s Highland Business Center (5930 Middle Fiskville Rd).<\/p>\n

A reception and awards celebration will take place September 17, the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the Constitution in 1787. The reception will be held at Highland Business Center from 6-8 p.m.<\/p>\n

What better way to celebrate the Constitution than by encouraging students to express themselves and engage in a debate about our rights.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

“What better way to celebrate the Constitution than by encouraging students to express themselves and engage in a debate about our rights,” says Lyman Grant, dean of Arts and Humanities. “We hope this exhibit will inspire the ACC community and the public to consider the rights and responsibilities of citizenship as outlined in the U.S. Constitution.”<\/p>\n
