ACC Hosts Statewide Photography Conference – Spring 2018
For the third time, ACC’s Department of Professional Photography had the pleasure of hosting the Association of Texas Photography Instructors (ATPI) Winter Conference. The full-day conference featured workshops demonstrating the latest trends in professional photography.
The conference drew in more than 380 students and instructors from 42 separate high schools. Participants came from high schools far and wide across the state.Over 50 ACC faculty, staff and volunteers from ACC’s Professional Photography, Radio Television and Film, and Visual Communication departments led dozens of hands-on workshops covering topics such as studio lighting techniques, introduction to video and advanced digital photography tools.
The conference concluded with seven current ACC students and alumni who showcased their portfolios. The visiting high school students were genuinely impressed with the quality and professionalism showcased during the review. The alumni were superb mentors, explaining their images and processes at length. Our goal for the day was to inspire the visiting high school students to continue their photographic journey through higher education. Sharing portfolios gave the alumni an opportunity to showcase how far their own photography has developed. A win-win for all.
