New Adjunct Faculty Training, September 2017

The Teaching & Learning Excellence Division (TLED) has partnered with Human Resources (HR) to create an experience for new faculty like no other. Our comprehensive orientation program delivers online and monthly sessions to brand new adjunct and full-time faculty alike; covering important topics such as:

  • Community College Mission and Philosophy
  • Learning about ACC students & best practices to achieve student success
  • Engaging with services at the college
  • Connecting with teaching colleagues
  • Becoming a leader within the ACC community
  • And more!

This semester-long program is designed to launch you into a successful career here at Austin Community College and bring ease to your first semester of many here with us. Each portion focuses on a different area of importance for new faculty. Soon you will receive a link to a welcome video from Human Resources giving you more information about Austin Community College as a whole.

First Step: Required Online Training for all Employees through Human Resources

Login to the Workshop Database to complete training in Sexual Harassment Prevention, ADA Awareness, and Cyber Security Awareness Training as soon as possible. These trainings are required regularly of all ACC employees and do not result in additional compensation.

ONLINE Adjunct Compensated Opportunity: TLED Adjunct Faculty Orientation

Adjuncts who complete this 4-hour online program by October 15, 2017 will receive a $100 stipend. Register in the workshop database. Stipends will be processed after the deadline for completion.

IN-PERSON Adjunct Compensated Opportunity: Attend the New Faculty Seminar Series

The four sessions of this seminar cover a full range of experiences that will benefit educators of any designation. Register today for New Faculty Seminar Series (first session on September 15th) at austincc.edu/nfs, spaces fill quickly. Adjuncts who attend all in-person events will receive a stipend of $25 per hour of attendance. Attendance will be tracked over the course of the Fall semester and stipends will be processed after the December event for payment prior to the winter break.

Ongoing Support on Your Campus

In addition to these training opportunities, the Teaching & Learning Excellence Division (TLED) also has an extensive menu of support services available to help you with all your teaching or classroom management needs. From classroom media support to instructional design and beyond, we’re here to enhance your experience and partner with you to improve the learning environment for our students.

On every campus we offer direct assistance through ACC Libraries, Instructional Designers, and Media Technology Specialists. Visit this webpage to find an Instructional Designer on your campus who can serve as your onsite “go to” person for questions regarding our services and others throughout the college.
