These awards include general education courses (English, math, history, philosophy, speech).  Because of this, students who declare an AAS major will be required to take the <a href=\"https:\/\/admissions.austincc.edu\/tsi-assessment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TSI<\/a> or other assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www6.austincc.edu\/cms\/site\/www\/awardplans\/awardplan.php?year=2024&amp;type=CC&amp;group=PCWET&amp;nid=28639&amp;apid=8255\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Code Welding AAS<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www6.austincc.edu\/cms\/site\/www\/awardplans\/awardplan.php?year=2024&amp;type=CC&amp;group=PCWET&amp;nid=28639&amp;apid=8411\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Welding Inspection AAS<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www6.austincc.edu\/cms\/site\/www\/awardplans\/awardplan.php?year=2024&amp;type=CC&amp;group=PCWET&amp;nid=28639&amp;apid=8540\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Architectural and Ornamental Metals (AOM) AAS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Stackable Credentials<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The courses in the Multiple Process Welding OSA can be applied toward any Welding Technology AAS and some certificates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The courses in the Structural Welding, Pipe Welding, and Ultrahigh Purity Piping Certificates can be applied toward the AAS in Code Welding.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The courses in the Structural Welding and Inspection Certificates can be applied toward the AAS in Welding Inspection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The courses in the Introduction to Fabrication and Advanced Fabrication Certificates can be applied toward the AAS in Architectural and Ornamental Metals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuition, Fees, and Other Costs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Most college credit welding courses are 4 credit hours each.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Each 4 credit hour course costs $391 for In-District students ($1,195 for Out-of-District; $1,463 for Out of State).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grants, scholarships, and payment plans are available to help students pay for college.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Welding students are required to provide their own personal protective equipment and clothing, plus certain tools.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Welding Principles and Applications<\/em> by Larry Jeffus is required for most technical welding courses.&nbsp; <em>Metallurgy <\/em>by BJ Moniz is required for WLDG 1337 Metallurgy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The book required for WLDG 1413 Introduction to Blueprint Reading and WLDG 2431 Advanced Blueprint require Symbols for Welding, published by Hobart Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Welding classes are offered in the fall, spring, and summer semesters.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In fall and spring, the semester is 16 weeks long.&nbsp;
