Minor Feelings-An Asian American Reckoning by Cathy Park Hong, AAPI Book Club

Spring 2025 – Minor Feelings by Cathy Park Hong

In the upcoming Spring 2025 semester, the AAPI Book Club will read and discuss Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning by Cathy Park Hong. The book is a powerful and provocative collection of essays that examines the complexities of Asian American identity and experience. Blending memoir, cultural criticism, and poetry, Hong delves into the “minor feelings” of shame, anger, and doubt that arise from living in a society that marginalizes Asian voices. Through deeply personal reflections and incisive commentary, she challenges stereotypes, confronts systemic racism, and explores the nuances of belonging and alienation. Minor Feelings is a bold and essential exploration of race, identity, and the emotional realities of being Asian American.
