The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Cultural Center at ACC is partnering with Austin Go Club to host a Go Game Workshop to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month. Go is a strategy board game for two players with the aim to capture more territory than the opponent by fencing off empty spaces. The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago and is believed to be the oldest board game continuously played today. Known as “Weiqi” (圍棋) in China, “Baduk” (바둑) in Korea, and “Igo” (囲碁) in Japan, the game has gained widespread popularity throughout Asia, with professional leagues, tournaments, and dedicated schools teaching essential skills for mastery. Its appeal continues to inspire players worldwide.

The Austin Go Club is a chapter of the American Go Association (AGA), they host weekly meetings open to players of all levels. This workshop will delve into the essential skills and strategies of Go, no previous experience is required.
