Episode 3: Collaborating for Success: AFA Officers and Conversations with Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart

Episode #3 of The Passionate About Pedagogy Podcast with LMC  “Collaborating for Success: AFA Officers and Conversations with Chancellor Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart” reports on February 7, 2025, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Welcome to this podcast episode, where we honor and remember Christie Carr, our esteemed Past President of the Adjunct Faculty Association. Join us as we reflect on Christie’s impactful contributions to Austin Community College and her legacy.

In this episode, we also unveil an exciting proposal for the Kindness Day Initiative, inviting everyone to participate in a college-wide challenge on World Kindness Day, November 13, 2025. We’ll discuss how small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect of positivity across ACC.

Additionally, we’ll examine our request to expand the free tuition to include spouses of ACC employees. This initiative aims to enhance support for families and further strengthen our community. We’ll also discuss the course evaluations pilot and 5-point Likert Scale. We close out the meeting report covering concerns raised regarding Summer 2025 eStaffing.

To wrap up, we will remind you that “Donut Days” are around the corner at your campus. These events are a sweet way to celebrate our adjunct community and give you a sneak peek of future podcasts to protect your rights as adjunct faculty here at ACC.

This week will be a double dose of the Passionate About Pedagogy Podcast—we have an interview with our fabulous instructional designers about getting your course materials shored up and how our future AFA Coffee Chats can assist you in this endeavor.

Stay tuned for inspiring conversations, essential updates, and engaging discussions that connect us all!
