Adoptable Pets from ACC’s Veterinary Technology Program
Austin Community College is looking for good homes for the animals that participate in our Veterinary Technology Program. Our program partners with several local shelters to acquire dogs and cats that will help our students develop all the technical skills they need to become licensed veterinary technicians. In exchange, staff and students care for the animals while actively working to find them homes. This not only benefits us as a teaching program, but it also allows us to give back to the community by helping open up spaces in the already overpopulated shelters, providing education to new pet owners, and improving the overall health of the animal community in Austin.

About Our Animals
During their stay, our students help teach basic obedience commands to the dogs and socialization skills for both cats and dogs. We neuter and spay, microchip, and keep them updated on all vaccines and preventatives. In order to achieve all of this, the animals stay with the program for the duration of the academic semester, and if adopted, they get to go home after classes have ended.
All animals you see here on our website are also available on the shelter’s website, and if not adopted by the end of the semester, they go back to their original shelter. If you want to help, but cannot adopt, please consider fostering or donating to our partner organizations. We currently work with:
- Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter
- Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter
- Pflugerville Animal Wellness Services
- Bastrop County Animal Services
