Construction continues to progress on Austin Community College District’s (ACC) Applied Technology Expansion at the Round Rock Campus. This expansion project is part of ACC’s 2022 General Obligation Bond program to create state-of-the-art training facilities in high-demand fields.

The building pads for both new buildings (Building 5500 and Building 4000) are now finished and have passed all safety and quality checks.

At Building 5500, crews are working on the foundation. More than 60% of the underground supports have been poured, and the rest of the foundation will be completed in two sections over the next couple of weeks. Once that work is done, crews will repeat the process in late June for Building 4000.

Structural steel frames for both buildings have been ordered and are currently in production.

Progress also continues on key infrastructure systems. Oncor, the campus power provider, has approved the design for the permanent electrical service routing. The transformer’s configuration makes it easier and more cost-effective to bring electricity to the site.

In addition to the expansion, work will pick up around Building 5000 in early June to stabilize the sawdust collection system that serves the woodworking labs. The current system has shifted due to soil settlement caused by extreme drought conditions.
