Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month 2024
Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, celebrated annually in May, is a time to honor and recognize the cultural heritage, contributions, and achievements of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
In 2024, Austin Community College (ACC) is marking the occasion with a lineup of events providing various opportunities for exploring various AAPI-themed topics and interests.
As we celebrate the diverse and vibrant cultures and contributions of the AAPI community, we also recognize the hardships and devastation endured by generations of AAPI individuals amidst discrimination, exclusion, and violence.
Let us unite as a community to learn about and celebrate AAPI cultures and communities, while promoting a sense of belonging and engagement among us all.

AAPI Spotlight Interview
As part of our AAPI Month celebrations, we sat down with an Austin Community College graduate, Aimme, who shared her incredible journey from ACC to establishing her own business.
Aimee is an ACC graduate who received her Associate of Arts Degree in dance in 2023. In the same year, she founded QiLi Dance Studio to fulfill her long-standing dream of preserving and sharing the beauty of Chinese dance. Over the years, Aimee has performed at various events for the Austin community including our Lunar New Year Festival in February 2024.
You can catch QiLi Dance’s next performance at the Dougherty Arts Center on Saturday, May 25th at 7pm. For more information visit: https://qilidance.com
