On January 29th 2026, ACCENT Media attended a NBA G league game of the Austin Spurs vs the Stockton Kings.

Stockton entered the game following a 138-134 overtime win against the Salt Lake City Stars. Austin returned home from Arizona after back-to-back decisive wins. The Spurs faced a significant challenge defending their home court against the Kings, the Eastern Conference’s top-ranked team, which aimed to continue its strong season.

Throughout the first half, it was back and forth between the Kings and Spurs, with both teams fighting for momentum but unable to sustain a hot streak. Most of the action occurred in the paint, as shooting was limited for the Spurs in the first half. Austin shot 25% from 3-point range in the opening half. What they lacked from the outside, they made up for with slashing ability, shooting 46% from inside the arc. David Jones-Garcia and Donovan Williams delivered crucial first-half performances, serving as the heart of the offense.

Austin was outscored in both the first and second quarters. The Spurs led only once, during an eight-minute stretch early in the game, and did not regain the lead. The offense faltered late in the third quarter after Jones-Garcia exited with a calf injury with 59 seconds remaining.

The Spurs continued to struggle beyond the 3-point line, and their failure to secure crucial rebounds late in the game ultimately tipped the scale toward Stockton at the end of regulation. The Spurs had an opportunity to tie the game and send it to overtime at 117-115 with 14 seconds left in the fourth quarter, but Harrison Ingram drove to the basket and missed a potential game-tying layup following a controversial no-call on a possible goaltending violation.
The Spurs fell 119-115 in a hard-fought loss to the Eastern Conference leaders. Despite the setback, and the loss of Jones-Garcia to injury, Austin showed resilience that could provide momentum moving forward.
