Paper Trails will include a selection of small-scale artworks produced between 2020 to the present. In his artmaking, Bernie Diaz manipulates words and images and weaves them against a conceptual framework of revision, omission, and embellishment. This creative journey transitions from the tactile realm of paper to the digital landscape of pixels and back again. While many images and words originate with him, others are discovered as the artwork is made. Diaz constructs compositions that forge formal coherence from seemingly disparate elements that result in a lineage of hybrid, glyph-like mixed-media collages.
