Welcome to the ACC Generative AI Resource Hub
At Austin Community College, we believe in supporting every member of our community in navigating the responsible use of Generative Artificial Intelligence, from students enhancing their learning to faculty redesigning curriculum to staff streamlining operations. We are navigating this evolving landscape together, grounded in ACC’s fundamental college values of courage, compassion, joy, and yes.
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) uses machine learning models, trained on large datasets, to create content (text, images, video, audio, code, etc.) in response to prompts entered by a human. GenAI is a subset of artificial intelligence, but unlike traditional artificial intelligence (AI) that analyzes or classifies existing data, GenAI learns underlying patterns to produce outputs.
This website is your central space to explore how ACC is implementing GenAI across the College. The work is guided by ACC’s Collegewide AI Strategic Planning and Implementation Steering Committees in close partnership with the Information Technology (IT) department and varied stakeholders from across the college.
Here, you’ll find resources, policies, and guidance to help you make informed and ethical decisions about GenAI use in our classrooms, offices, and communities.
How We Approach GAI at ACC
At Austin Community College, we’re building our approach to GenAI with people first —celebrating and embracing the unique thoughts and contributions of our students, faculty, and staff. As GenAI tools continue to evolve, we’re taking thoughtful, strategic steps to make sure they support learning, equity, and innovation. Our values guide every policy and practice we build around GenAI.
What Guides Our Work on GenAI?
We’re committed to values that reflect who we are as a college and what our community needs to thrive. These include four key themes:
Ethical Values
We believe GenAI policies should be:
- Collaborative – shaped by input from faculty, staff, and students
- Transparent – shared openly and clearly
- Fair – consistent with ACC’s broader mission of equity and access
Procedural Values
We don’t “set it and forget it.” GenAI strategy requires:
- Proactive risk assessment
- Awareness of new technologies and laws
- Continuous improvement and adaptation
Educational Values
We’re focused on learning, not just tools. That means:
- Supporting academic freedom
- Respecting human creativity and decision-making
- Creating learning opportunities with GenAI for all disciplines — when it makes sense
Process Values
The way we roll out GenAI policies matters too. We’re committed to:
- Clear communication
- Informed, inclusive decision-making
- Shared governance
Our Foundation: The ACC Core Values
Everything we do is grounded in our core values:
- Courage – to lead in new territory
- Compassion – to understand diverse needs
- Joy – to create meaningful learning experiences
- Yes – to explore new possibilities with optimism
What This Means for You
Whether you’re a student curious about how GenAI might show up in your courses, a faculty member developing a syllabus, or a staff member planning for AI-powered tools, our commitment is the same:
✅ Keep it ethical
✅ Keep it transparent
✅ Keep it student-centered
✅ Keep it collaborative
✅ Keep it human-focused
