ACC Spring 2019 Commencement

Business Administration majors dominate the list of four-year degrees most in demand.  In Austin, a two-year associate in Business Administration is a great credential to get students in the door for entry level positions.

According to NACE, Occupational Outlook Handbook, and Bureau of Labor Statistics, some of the top occupations are:

  • Accounting
  • Advertising
  • Business Administration/Management
  • Computer Science
  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Information Sciences
  • Logistics/Supply Chain
  • Management Information Systems
  • Marketing
  • Sales

According to Indeed.com (Feb 2022) some of the top jobs in demand in the Austin area are:

  • Analysts
  • Bankers
  • Business Consultants
  • Data Marketers
  • Financial Advising
  • Health Administrators with Business
  • Information Analysts
  • Project Managers
  • Retail Managers
  • Realtors
  • Operations Research Analysts
  • Web Developers and Managers

It is true that many of these jobs require a 4-year degree but in looking at jobs on Indeed, many will also hire a two-year associate in business.  The strengths of this program are versatility (good entry-level credential for lots of jobs that are not “dead-end” jobs) and long-term impact (how many people in the community are working in pretty good mid-level jobs who got started from an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration).
