Dr. Gaye Lynn Scott

Dr. Gaye Lynn Scott started her career at ACC in Fall 1987 as an adjunct faculty member in the Government Department. Since then, she has been a full-time faculty member, served as the Government Department Chair, the Dean of Social & Behavioral Sciences, and the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Programs. In January 2023 she moved into the role of Vice Chancellor of Instruction where she is focused on helping each student who walks through our doors find the program pathway that makes their heart sing, and then helping them succeed in achieving their learning goals.

She is an advocate for excellence in teaching and learning that supports equitable student success, and for innovative programs that contribute to success for all our students.

In recent years Dr. Scott has led the successful development of Z Degrees (zero textbook costs) – work that earned ACC the 2019 Star Award from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. She also has led ACC’s efforts to embed equity- mindedness in our faculty hiring, the launch of our academic alert tool, the development of a system for faculty advising of General Studies majors, the development of the Provost’s Fellows program, the launch of an annual strategic scheduling process, and the faculty learning community aimed at reducing withdrawal rates in high enrollment/high withdrawal gateway courses. She is active in her church, a lifelong baseball fan, and an accomplished pianist.

Dr. Nina Almasy

Associate Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences
Austin Community College

Nina Almasy is the Associate Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences at Austin Community College, overseeing its nationally accredited Health Science programs and the Health Science Academy. With over 30 years of experience in nursing, Dr. Almasy has been instrumental in ACC since 2003, previously serving as Health Sciences Dean and Professional Nursing Department Chair. She holds a Baccalaureate degree in nursing from Ahwaz Medical Sciences University, Iran, and earned her Master’s and Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Texas at Austin, School of Nursing.

Dr. Almasy’s leadership extends beyond ACC; she was appointed by the Governor to the Texas Board of Nursing from 2012 to 2019 and is a recipient of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Teaching Excellence award. She currently serves on the Leadership Council of the Central Texas Healthcare Partnership and the Board of South Austin Medical Center, influencing the regional healthcare workforce landscape.
