Proof of health insurance for all Health Sciences students is required before beginning the first clinical course, consistent with the requirements of our clinical education partners. With the increasing risks of providing patient care, it is necessary for you to be protected. This coverage is in addition to the accident insurance provided by the college. Each program will provide specific information related to their deadlines.
Health Insurance
Health Insurance Coverage must be Major Medical Insurance and it must include:
- Primary care
- Specialty care
- Urgent care
- Emergency room
- Hospital inpatient services
- Ambulatory/outpatient services
Proof of insurance will be verified at the beginning of each semester by submitting a copy of your insurance card. Verification of coverage from the provider will also be required if the name on the card does not match (e. g. covered under a parent’s policy).
Students are required to keep the policy current for the entire duration of the semester and notify the program faculty if changes occur. Students who are out of compliance will be unable to attend clinical.
Medi-share, MAP basic, and other similar plans will not be accepted. After careful review and further consultation with the clinical agencies, it has been determined those plans do not meet the criteria of the clinical agencies.
