ACC Website Redesign Update: From Strategy to Action

Over the past month, the ACC Website Redesign has officially shifted from strategy and discovery into active implementation planning. In short: we’re moving from conversation to action.

Strategy Finalized and Direction Set

Our partners at iFactory finalized the Web Strategy and Executive Summary, which outline a clear path forward: a student-first, plain-language, unified website experience designed to guide prospective students from awareness through enrollment.

Over the past several weeks, we:

  • Validated key user personas
  • Aligned on a four-phase student journey framework
  • Presented the strategic direction to the Web Advisory Committee

The response has been strong and engaged. There is clear support for simplifying the experience and ensuring our public website works first and foremost for students.

Launching the Content Inventory

With strategy in place, we launched one of the most significant operational efforts of the project: a large-scale content inventory.

We identified approximately:

  • 19,000 URLs
  • Across 109 sites
  • Consolidated into 17 themed inventories for structured review

This is a major milestone. For the first time, we have a comprehensive view of our web footprint and we are now actively deciding what content:

  • Remains on the new public website
  • Moves to a future student portal
  • Moves to a future employee portal
  • Should be archived or retired

This work represents a critical step toward a more intentional, sustainable, and student-centered web presence.

Current Focus: Content and Governance

Right now, our primary focus is completing the content audit review by March 9.

Web Advisory Committee members are identifying content providers and subject-matter experts (SMEs) across the college, and review teams are being launched to categorize content into the four defined buckets.

In parallel, we are:

  • Preparing change management materials
  • Aligning communications for Cabinet and broader stakeholders
  • Continuing important conversations about the distinction between public-facing and private/internal content
  • Refining governance guardrails and naming conventions

These conversations are foundational. Clarifying what belongs on the public website and what does not will help us create a clearer, more intuitive experience for students while also supporting operational efficiency.

First Steps Into Visual Design

Today marks an exciting milestone: our first Art Direction session.

Designers are presenting early explorations of how ACC’s fonts, colors, and visual language can evolve to reflect the strategic vision. While still early in the process, this represents the first visible step toward what the redesigned site will ultimately look and feel like.

What’s Next

Over the next several weeks, we will:

  • Complete the content inventory review
  • Refine governance guardrails and naming conventions
  • Prepare for a Cabinet deep dive in early March
  • Begin defining interim solutions for portal and intranet needs

Throughout this phase, our priority remains delivering a cohesive, student-centered public website first while thoughtfully planning for future portal and intranet environments.
