Value Statement

The Austin Community College District (“ACC” or “the College”) will meet its legal responsibilities and protect the interests of the College while supporting the employees and students in the fulfillment of its mission.

Administrative Rule

The College will retain legal counsel. Only an authorized Legal Liaison for the College may initiate contact with the College’s legal counsel. Individual staff members seeking to make use of the College’s legal counsel shall bring their matter to the appropriate Legal Liaison.


  1. The Chancellor and the following designated individuals will serve as the authorized Legal Liaisons between the College and legal counsel. Each liaison is responsible for assessing the need for legal services for their department and coordinating with the College’s legal counsel to provide those services.

  1. Invoices for legal counsel services will be reviewed and approved prior to payment by: the Chancellor, the Provost/EVC of Academic and Student Affairs, the EVC of Campus Operations and Public Affairs, the EVC of Finance and Administration and the VC of Human Resources.
