Value Statement
The Austin Community College District (“ACC” or “the College”) seeks to ensure the proper management and utilization of Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) resources to create a safe, comfortable, accessible, and functional environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Administrative Rule
- General Statement
- FF&E refers to movable assets owned by ACC that are used to furnish and equip a building.
- Campus Planning, Construction & Sustainability (CPCS) is responsible for ensuring that the acquisition, placement, and management of FF&E complies with appropriate building and life safety codes, ADA requirements, safety standards, operational efficiency, sustainability, and infrastructure compatibility.
- FF&E is the property of ACC and may be repaired, replaced, relocated, or retired by CPCS as necessary to optimize space, increase functionality, and meet institutional needs.
- Staff, faculty, and students are not permitted to move or relocate FF&E without CPCS approval.
- CPCS manages the planning, procurement, and coordination of FF&E for Bond projects and renovation work.
- Furniture Management
- CPCS manages all aspects of furniture, including selection, procurement, installation, repair, reconfiguration, relocation, warranty coverage, and disposal.
- CPCS ensures selected FF&E products are suitable for higher-ed environments and align with campus aesthetics and ACC’s Design & Construction Standards.
- Equipment Management
- CPCS must be consulted before existing equipment is moved or replaced to evaluate space, accessibility, infrastructure needs (e.g., electrical, mechanical, ventilation, data), identify constraints, and recommend necessary modifications in collaboration with other ACC departments and consultants.
- The department requesting equipment is responsible for incorporating CPCS’s recommendations, securing funding, and procurement of the requested replacement equipment.
- The department requesting equipment also manages ongoing operations, including maintenance, repairs, replacements, training, and warranty coordination, in collaboration with ACC Maintenance Operations as needed.
