Value Statement
The Austin Community College District (“ACC” or “the College”) recognizes designated days throughout the year as holidays to be observed by the College.
Administrative Rule
Holidays are scheduled annually and must be approved by the Chancellor. Staffing table employees are eligible to receive holiday pay with the following exceptions:
- Staffing table employees, including new hires, must be in a paid status, for at least ten working days prior to the start of Winter or Spring Break in order to qualify for holiday pay for those holidays. This ten working day requirement does not apply to other College holidays.
- For a holiday that is not Winter or Spring Break, in order to qualify for holiday pay, staffing table employees must be in a paid status on the work day prior to the holiday.
- If a staffing table employee resigns effective December 31, the employee will receive Winter Break pay through December 31 of that year.
- A Classified (non-exempt) employee who is scheduled to work on an approved holiday shall be paid straight time for all hours worked on the holiday in addition to receiving holiday pay. Supervisors must approve working during a holiday. When hours worked on a holiday result in an excess of forty hours actually worked in a week, those excess hours will be paid at the rate of time and one-half.
- A Professional-Technical employee who is scheduled to work on an approved holiday shall be paid straight time for the holiday and in addition shall receive one hour of compensatory time off for each hour worked on a holiday. Supervisors must approve working during a holiday.
