Welcome to the Future Health: AI Implications in Healthcare and Education symposium, where we will explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on these critical fields. This event aims to explore the latest trends and applications of AI technologies in healthcare and higher education. Join us to discover the future of healthcare and higher education AI, its exciting potential, and the challenges it brings to the healthcare space.

Attendees will engage with thought leaders and experts through a keynote address, interactive panel discussions, networking opportunities, and poster presentations.

In the AI in Higher Education and Healthcare Worker Preparation panel, we examine several aspects of AI integration in teaching and learning, including digital learning and policy making. Discover examples, tools, and resources showcasing AI’s potential to transform how the healthcare workforce is prepared.

The AI Trends in Healthcare panel will present various applications of AI in the healthcare sector, examining its potential to revolutionize patient care and healthcare data systems. We will also explore the potential role of AI in augmenting the healthcare workforce.

Finally, the AI for Social Good panel will explore ethical considerations, societal concerns, and the potential benefits and unintended consequences of AI. Join us for an engaging discussion on the promise and pitfalls of AI in creating a better future for all.

Keynote Address

AI: Alchemy or Moonshot?

In this keynote address, Dr. Hodjat will explore whether the pursuit of AI is more akin to alchemy or a moonshot. He will discuss how perceptions of AI have evolved over time, discuss its current state, and share thoughts on future directions, including the potential and limitations of current AI systems.

Babak Hodjat, Ph.D.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Babak Hodjat is the CTO for AI at Cognizant where he leads the Advanced AI Labs, a team of developers and researchers bringing advanced AI solutions to businesses. Babak is the former co-founder and CEO of Sentient, responsible for the core technology behind the world’s largest distributed artificial intelligence system. Babak was also the founder of the world’s first AI-driven hedge-fund, Sentient Investment Management.

Babak is a serial entrepreneur, having started a number of Silicon Valley companies as main inventor and technologist. Prior to co-founding Sentient, Babak was senior director of engineering at Sybase iAnywhere, where he led mobile solutions engineering.

Prior to Sybase, Babak was co-founder, CTO and board member of Dejima Inc. Babak is the primary inventor of Dejima’s patented, agent-oriented technology applied to intelligent interfaces for mobile and enterprise computing – the technology behind Apple’s Siri.

Babak has published many papers in the fields of Artificial Life, Agent-Oriented Software Engineering, and Distributed Artificial Intelligence, and has 38 issued US patents to his name. He is an expert in numerous fields of AI, including natural language processing, machine learning, genetic algorithms, distributed AI, and has founded multiple companies in these areas.

Babak holds a PhD in Machine Intelligence from Kyushu University, in Fukuoka, Japan. Babak is also the author of “The Narrator”, an AI science fiction novella, and “The Konar and the Apple”, a collection of short stories based on his youth. (wikipedia.org)
