ACC celebrated the grand opening of San Gabriel Campus in Leander with a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 30.
The event featured guest speakers Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC President/CEO, U.S. Representative John Carter, State Rep. Tony Dale, State Rep. Paul Workman, Williamson County Commissioner Cynthia Long, Leander Mayor Chris Fielder, Leander ISD Superintendent Dr. Dan Troxell, ACC Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Barbara Mink, Leander High School Senior Misty Valencia, and performances by the Running Brushy Middle School Jazz Band and Rouse High School Drumline.
The new campus will serve one of the fastest-growing areas in the region and relieve crowding at ACC’s Cypress Creek Campus. The campus primarily will offer general education courses and include the college’s second ACCelerator learning center as well as a 3,900 square-foot rooftop terrace.
Crews are finalizing installation throughout campus in April. The irrigation and landscape subcontractor also continues work at bio-retention ponds. The planting of trees continues and crews completed the installation of all three water collection tanks on site. A grand opening celebration is scheduled for the end of May.
Installation of the wood ceiling grid commenced. Above ceiling work including the installation of fire sprinkler pipe, duct insulation, plumbing lines, vent/drain lines, chilled water piping and flushing, electrical conduit/boxes, and cable tray continued this month. Tape and float, block filler, primer, and paint at all three levels also continued.
The installation of access flooring at the ACCelerator commenced and is near completion. The installation of carpet flooring also commenced this month at the second and third floors east side. The installation of the traction elevator was completed.
Installation of electrical fixtures commenced this month and permanent power to the building was established on November 21. Installation of drywall and insulation on all three levels continued. Waterproofing work continued this month and is near completion. The installation of the hydraulic elevator commenced. The concrete subcontractor continued to form and place curb and gutter, sidewalks, and concrete paving.
Construction crews continue work on the structural steel erection of the west and east canopies. In addition, above ceiling work, including the installation of fire sprinkler pipes, plumbing lines, and chilled water piping, continued at all three levels of the building.
Crews began installation of drywall and insulation on the third floor and work progressed on the parking lot.
The Austin Community College District Board of Trustees approved names for five additional streets at the San Gabriel campus. The new street names are ACCelerator Avenue, Equity Way, Education Lane, Riverbat Drive, and Wellstone Bend. Read more >

Foundations have been poured. Crews are installing exterior framing and the middle structure is being set. Above-ceiling work (fire sprinkler pipe, duct work, plumbing lines, and electrical conduit/boxes) continues in the building’s east wing. The concrete masonry core of the west-wing stair/elevator tower is complete.
Proposals for campus streets not previously named will be submitted to the City of Leander.

Austin Community College’s Board of Trustees has designated names for six streets within the new San Gabriel Campus.
