Monthly Summary
The month of July included extensive outreach to offer DFI microcredentials within and outside of ACC (including ACC Military Families Center, non-profit organizations, other colleges, and through a platform that facilitates course sharing between academic institutions).
The Web Builder microcredential was revamped to include an optional pathway for co-curricular students who want to explore WordPress, using WordPress.com’s free plan. In addition, work on Advanced PowerPoint (12th microcredential) was started.
Finally, a DFI Data Dashboard was created in Google Sheets to track data internally and to share program progress externally.

- July 2 – Met with ACC GROW Student Kara to discuss script and animation for LMS explainer animations and videos.
- July 9 – Met with Foundation Communities to plan an info session.
- July 9 – Participated in a Skills Marketplace demo with Acadeum.
- July 10 – Planning session with Central New Mexico College for the Connect and Innovation series.
- July 11-12 – Participated in a National Science Foundation Pathways panel to review nationwide proposals from other colleges regarding AI subject matter.
- July 15 – Collaborated with Military Families for a marketing event to be held in the fall.
- July 23 – Met with ACC GROW Student Kara to discuss progress on script and animation for LMS explainer animations and videos.
- July 24 – Met with Mary Kohls (Chair, Computer Science and Information Technology) to discuss a potential collaboration for AI microcredentials to articulate to credit-bearing courses that would stack into a Level 1 Certificate.
- July 26 – Presented DFI microcredential program to Central New Mexico College for their Friday Innovation series to an audience of ~40 faculty and staff.
- July 26 – Final presentation to Dr Umphrey (ACC Provost) of concept for Career and Life Center which includes incorporating DFI microcredentials into all ACC students’ career pathways.
- July 30 – Met with Foundation Communities to plan an info session for their staff to take DFI microcredentials to uplevel their skills and support their clients.
- July 31 – Presented to ~30 Foundation Communities staff to inform them of the DFI microcredential program.
- July 31 – Met with Jessica Listi regarding EDUC 1301 to discuss the benefits of taking DFI MCs.
Microcredentials
- Updates were made to several microcredentials to improve the learner experience.
- Advanced PowerPoint microcredential development started.
- Web Builder microcredential being revamped to include two branching options: a paid version and a free version. Students will have a choice to either build a free, temporary site for the experience of building a website using a web builder (by using WordPress.com and the Gutenberg Blocks web builder), or (for students who want a more permanent solution for their portfolio or business) to build a website using WordPress.org, a web hosting service (BlueHost or similar), a custom domain name, and the Elementor plugin. Both options will give students an understanding of how websites and web builders work and how to set up and create their own website.
