Sept. 2024 QEP Update

Monthly Summary

The month of September mostly focused on outreach efforts and developing a new microcredential. Meetings were held to discuss partnerships and grant opportunities, to further market the DFI program, and to discuss the impact of AI and how DFI microcredentials might be utilized.

Work also continued with an ACC GROW Student to develop animated explainer videos to help students get started in the DFI microcredentials. Finally, significant progress was made in the development of the Advanced PowerPoint microcredential (12th to be developed).

Highlights

Outreach

  • Created a post for the Riverbat Echo newsletter, targeting students.
  • Social Media planning started to enhance DFI marketing.
  • “2 Years in Review” DFI Spark newsletter was sent out to 800+ recipients.
  • September 3 – Met with Dr Umphrey (ACC Provost) and others to discuss the transformational impact of AI on IT jobs.
  • September 3 – Met with Jamie Castleberry (Goodwill Industries), Chris Cervini (Assoc. VC Community and Public Affairs), Vanessa Errico (ACC Manager of Military Spouses and Families program), and Ursula Pike (Exec. Dir. Grant Development and Compliance) to discuss the NTIA Digital Equity Competitive grant.
  • September 3 – Met with Mary Harris (VC Instructional Effectiveness and Grant Development), Ursula Pike, Andrea Kehoe (ACC Head of Product), and Christine Stanley (ACC Officer, Senior Resource Development) to discuss applying for the NTIA Digital Equity Competitive grant.
  • September 4 – Met with Garret Groves (Chief of Staff and VC for Strategic Initiatives) and Laura Lucas (Dir. Strategic Initiatives) to discuss selling DFI MCs to other colleges.
  • September 9 – Met Laura Lucas and Laura Marmolejo (Dean Adv. Manufacturing) to discuss curriculum licensing.
  • September 10 – Met with ACC GROW Student Kara to review animation and orientation video.
  • September 10 – Met with cabinet from Central New Mexico College to present info on DFI microcredential program and discuss the possibility of a partnership.
  • September 17 – Participated in Blackboard Ultra workshop to learn about the new LMS. ACC is requiring all online instructional programs to convert to BB Ultra by Fall 2025.
  • September 17 – Met with ACC GROW Student Kara to review animation for orientation video.
  • September 24 – Met with ACC Distance Education deans to provide an info session about the DFI MC program.
  • September 25 – Met with Mary Kohls (Chair CSIT) to review details concerning the alignment of the future proposed DFI AI MCs with credit-bearing AI courses.
  • September 27 – Presented to Phi Theta Cappa (ACC Honor Program) about DFI program.

Microcredentials 

  • Advanced PowerPoint microcredential development continued.
  • ACC Grow Student started creating LMS explainer animations and videos.
  • Edits were made to the Presentation Software microcredential for 3 Fall session #1 co-curricular sections, to meet Fashion Design needs.
