Apical Window

MV Inflow

From the apical 4C view, place the color box over the valve and center the leaflet tips to display adequate flow information proximal distal to the valve. Include the annulus in your assessment. The color should be mostly red.

LV outflow

From the apical 5C view, place the color box over the valve and center the leaflet tips to display adequate flow information proximal distal to the valve. Include the annulus in your assessment. The color should be mostly blue aliasing to red.

TV inflow

From the Apical 4C modified view, place the color box over the valve and center the leaflet tips to display adequate flow information proximal distal to the valve. Include the annulus in your assessment. The color should be mostly red.

Ap 2C MV

Place the color box over the valve and center the leaflet tips to display adequate flow information proximal distal to the valve. Include the annulus in your assessment. The color should be mostly red.

Ap 3C MV

Place the color box over the valve and center the leaflet tips to display adequate flow information proximal distal to the valve. Include the annulus in your assessment. The color should be mostly red.

Ap 3C AV

Place the color box over the valve and center the leaflet tips to display adequate flow information proximal distal to the valve. Include the annulus in your assessment. The color should be mostly blue, aliasing to red.

Color M-mode LV inflow

From the apical 4C view, optimize the LV using decreasing the depth. Place the color box over the valve and lengthen to include flow from the mitral valve to the LV apex. Reduce the forward flow baseline velocity to ~35 cm/s. Place the cursor in the center of flow and activate M-mode.
