Henry Stone Memorial Scholarship

William Henry Stone, “Henry” to most, left this world on the morning of Tuesday, January 8, 2019, after a short but aggressive case of pancreatic cancer. Henry was a unique and valued member of the Welding Technology Department at Austin Community College, first as a student, then as a lab assistant, adjunct professor, and finally full time professor.

Henry was a cabinet-maker, mill-worker, welder, blacksmith, and, ultimately, welding professor at ACC, his dream job.  He was a creator of just about anything–furniture, light fixtures, garage apartments, gardens, artistic BBQ pits, pom-poms for woolen hats, Wom-Kim’s Peach Pudding, chicken coops, marching band equipment, online Math quizzes, gantries, tables from giant saw blades, you name it.

Henry was generous with his time and his wealth of accumulated expertise.  He was dedicated to the education of those wishing to enter or advance within the workforce.  He fearlessly and tirelessly worked toward the success of his students and of the Welding Technology Department.

The Welding Technology Department has established the Henry Stone Memorial Scholarship to honor and remember Henry.  Our goal is to raise at least $15,000 within one year (by February 14, 2020) so that it may be converted to an endowed scholarship, which will continue to honor Henry’s memory for years to come.

Please visit ACC’s Foundation page to see How to Donate.   If you choose to donate online, be sure to select “Henry Stone Memorial” from the list in the box labeled “How would you like for us to use your donation”.

Henry is greatly missed by all who knew him and, inevitably, loved him.  Thank you for your support of this endeavor.
