Value Statement

The Austin Community College District (“ACC” or “the College”) is committed to providing a fair work environment and seeks to make the separation of employment as amicable as possible; however, in accordance with federal and state law, non-contractual employees may be dismissed at any time for any reason with or without cause and without notice.

Administrative Rule

Non-faculty employees are at-will and may be dismissed at any time for any reason with or without cause and without prior notice.

Responsibilities

  1. The immediate supervisor is responsible for recommending the termination of employment of any employee under their supervision. Once the termination is approved, the supervisor is responsible for processing the required termination paperwork and process.
  2. The Vice Chancellor or higher is responsible for approving the termination of employment of an employee in their supervisory chain.

The Vice Chancellor of Human Resources is responsible for reviewing the termination background and paperwork to ensure compliance with College policies and procedures and state or federal laws. The Vice Chancellor of Human Resources may consult with legal counsel, as needed, and must approve all termination actions.
