Value Statement

ACC will follow all State-designated exemptions and exceptions to the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) program.

Administrative Rule

Any exemptions or exceptions from TSI requirements described by the Texas Legislature will be allowed at Austin Community College as follows:

  • Acceptable ACT/SAT/TAKS/STAAR scores
  • Certificate programs of one year or less (Level-One Certificate, 42 or fewer semester hours or the equivalent)
  • Students who satisfy the criteria for personal enrichment, and are not seeking a degree
  • Students who serve on active duty as a member of: (1) the armed forces of the United States; or (2) the Texas National Guard
  • Students who are currently serving as and, for at least the three-year period preceding enrollment, have served as a member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States
  • Students who on or after August 1, 1990, were honorably discharged, retired, or released from: (1) active duty as a member of the armed forces of the United States or the Texas
  • National Guard; or (2) service as a member of a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States
  • Students who successfully complete a college preparatory course are exempt for a period of twenty-four (24) months from the date of high school graduation with respect to the content area of the course. The student must enroll in the students’ first college-level course in the exempted content area in the student’s first year of enrollment

Degrees or level two certificates will not be awarded to students who are not TSI complete.
