A dental hygienist is a licensed health care professional. Dental hygiene is the science and practice of the recognition, treatment, and prevention of oral diseases. Graduates of the Dental Hygiene Program are eligible to work in any number of health care settings such as private dental offices, schools, and nursing homes. The next program site visit by the Commission is scheduled to occur April 20th – 21st, 2027. Students, faculty, constituent dental societies, state boards of dentistry, patients, and other interested parties may submit an appropriate, signed, formal complaint to the Commission on Dental Accreditation regarding any Commission accredited program. The Commission on Dental Accreditation will review complaints that relate to a program’s compliance with the accreditation standards. The Commission, upon request, will take every reasonable precaution to prevent the identity of the complainant from being revealed to the program; however, the Commission cannot guarantee the confidentiality of the complainant.
