ACC Full-Time Faculty Senate Website

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

Please see the important message below from incoming Senate President Dr. Wayne Butler.

Best,

++missi Patterson

Dear Faculty Colleague,

I hope this email finds you well and recovering from the stresses of living and working during COVID-19 pandemic.

As your incoming Full-Time Faculty Senate president, I’m asking all full-time faculty to serve on the crucial decision-making committees and councils. This essential work ensures full-time faculty voices are heard at the many policy-setting meetings held throughout the academic year. Please visit ACC Shared Governance for details about our role in shaping ACC policies and procedures.

The deadline is July 15, 2020. Find below a link to a survey where you can declare your preferences.

Why You? Why Now?

The 2020-2021 academic year will continue to challenge leadership, faculty, staff, and our students to adapt to whatever new realities are on the horizon. Indeed, we learned much about how to respond during spring 2020, and we’ll learn more during summer 2020. All your efforts were admirable.

The ACC community will have some hard decisions to make. No doubt some of these issues will touch on policies and processes that may affect full-time faculty. Our presence on the councils and committees is our primary vehicle to advocate for our students and for one another.

Additionally, but not incidentally, full-time faculty members have a contractual obligation to dedicate 10 hours a week to college and department service. Representing the Full-Time Faculty Senate is an outstanding way, and perhaps the most effective one, to fulfill this obligation.

Sign Up and Let Your Voice Be Heard!

To learn more about the councils/committees and to express your interest to serve on one or more of them, please complete THIS FORM by July 15, 2020.
