ACC Branding: Mascot

Austin Community College’s beloved mascot, R.B. the Riverbat, is an important part of the college’s brand. Through dozens of appearances yearly, R.B. serves as a another symbol of ACC’s mission and commitment to building a college-going culture.

Visit the R.B. the Riverbat webpage for information about R.B. and the R.B. and Friends television program.

Any college materials or communications that include images of R.B. must adhere to brand standards.

About R.B.’s Name

R.B.’s official name is R.B. Bbhoggawact. Bbhoggawact is an acronym (minus the vowels) for the college’s eight-county service area – Bastrop, Blanco, Hays, Gillespie, Gonzales, Williamson, Caldwell, and Travis.

Because R.B. Bbhoggawact is quite a mouthful, using initials only is acceptable on all references. R.B.’s preferred pronouns are he/them/their.

Mascot Appearances

Visit the Mascot Appearances page for detailed information and rules regarding R.B.’s participation at an event. While R.B. is available for appearances throughout the year, it may be more difficult to fulfill requests during the summer months. Please note:

  • ACC may refuse a request if it is decided that the event or location is not suitable for an ACC mascot.
  • All publicity for an event that mentions an appearance by R.B. (including logos), must be approved by the Office of College Relations & Marketing office before use. For approval, contact 512-223-7595.
