ACC Primary Logos

The Austin Community College District logos create instant brand identity and are symbols for everything our brand represents: community, value, trust, and academic excellence. Any department, program, office, or division associated with the college should adhere to these ACC District logo use guidelines.

  • It is against district policy to alter the ACC logo. ACC logos are federally registered trademarks and may not be altered or recreated.
  • All departments and programs funded by ACC must use approved college logos.
  • Logos associated with the ACC brand must be approved by the Office of Communications & Marketing.
  • Individualized logos may not be developed without approval from the Provost/EVC of Academic Affairs and Vice Chancellor of College Relations & Marketing.

The Austin Community College name, logo and trademarks, wordmarks, slogans, and other identifying symbols are the property of ACC and protected by federal and local laws. Any unauthorized use of these by any entity or individual without express written consent of the ACC District is a violation of the law.

Logo Usage

View logo lockups here.

ACC’s logo is to be used on all correspondence, publications, signage, advertising, merchandise, and other marketing and public relations materials. Follow the ACC logo technical requirements specified on the logo lockups to confirm the correct placement and colors for the logo.

The logo should appear on the front page of all ACC publications, including brochures, course schedules, catalogs, etc. (The exception to this rule is official business of the Board of Trustees, graduation diplomas, and transcripts, all of which will use the college seal.)

Do not change the typeface of the logo or alter the proportion or composition of the logo in any way. In addition:

  • The logo must appear in its entirety.
  • Do not use the star on its own, or use the college name in the typeface and configuration of the logo without the star.
  • In a two-color application, both the star and the type should be solid color.

Size

Any version of the logo should be larger than ¾ inch tall, and smaller than 2 inches, except in specific cases, such as merchandise, business cards, and billboards.

Clear Space

The ACC logos look best with ample clear space around them. Logos should have space on all sides that is at least the height of an uppercase C.

Incorrect Logo Usage

Presenting our brand identity consistently is essential. Do not modify logo artwork and avoid these common misuses:

  • DO NOT outline the logo.
  • DO NOT change the color of the logo beyond the approved colors.
  • DO NOT stretch, condense, or change the dimensions of the logo.
  • DO NOT rearrange elements of the logo.
  • DO NOT change the scale of elements in the logo.
  • DO NOT skew, warp, or set the logo on an angle.
  • DO NOT add extra elements or text to the logo.
  • DO NOT apply drop shadows or other visual effects to the logo.
  • DO NOT place the logo over a busy photograph or background.

When Using Multiple Internal Logos or Marks

Do not use multiple ACC combination marks in the same piece. Instead, list the names of the ACC entities accompanied by the parent brand ACC District logo. See ACC Co-branding Guidelines for information about using the ACC logo with logos of other organizations.

Spirit (Riverbat) Logo

Our spirit mark, the Riverbat logo, is the most informal of our brand assets, created to evoke a sense of energy, pride, and drive. It can be used across the college community to reflect spirit, pride, and the student experience.

Like the District logo, our Riverbat logo must appear in its entirety. The logo typeface, proportion, or composition cannot be altered in any way.

The Riverbat logo can be displayed only in ACC Dark Purple (PMS 2695 C), all-black, or all-white. The logo should have at least 1/4 inch of space around it on all sides.

Austin Community College District Seal

ACC District seal

The Austin Community College District seal symbolizes a sense of tradition, quality, and the enlightening power of knowledge. To maintain its integrity and effectiveness, the ACC seal is reserved for use to mark the highest official communications of the college, as it signifies formal authority.

The ACC seal is reserved for official sanctioned uses: executive-level (vice president and above) stationery; legal and official documents such as diplomas and transcripts; formal academic ceremonies; and permanent building insignias.

The following leadership positions may also use the ACC seal on stationery, presentations, websites, and invitations:

  • Chancellor
  • Provost
  • Vice Chancellors
  • Trustees

The seal can be used as full-color, gold, or black and white. It should not be used in place of the official primary logos.

Other limited uses must be approved in advance on a case-by-case basis by the chancellor’s office.

Department Logos

ACC is a large and structurally complex institution. To unify the college’s many academic and administrative units, we use a system of department logo lockups. These vertical and horizontal lockups highlight individual department or division while visually connecting the unit with the college brand. Under no circumstances should any text or graphic other than a unit name be coupled with the logo.

Both horizontal and vertical templates are available. If you would like to create a lockup for your department/division, please contact the Office of College Relations & Marketing.

Additional usage guidelines:

  • Clear space and minimum size guidelines apply to all brand lockups.
  • Logos must be used in full-color, all-black, or all-white.
