Transform ED: Call to Faculty to Participate |
Full-time faculty are invited to apply for the second faculty cohort in TransformEd. TransformEd is an opportunity for faculty to conduct research, look at data, engage in environmental scans, learn with other Instructional and Student Affairs leaders, and ultimately design and propose change initiatives to support the future of education at ACC. As an example, this year’s TransformED faculty have proposed and designed a chat bot for faculty to use when they have questions about resources available to students. Full-time faculty who are selected for Cohort Two will receive 9 LEH of release time in the Fall and Spring semesters. If you are curious about the experience, you can reach out to Dr. Marilyn Yale (Government) or Jaime Cantu (Biology) who participated in the inaugural cohort. You can also connect with Stephanie Long, Associate Dean for the Faculty Center for Learning & Innovation, who has been a key leader in this year’s TransformEd work. You may apply through this form and a selection committee will be established to finalize next year’s cohort. Since selected faculty will need to give up sections, we want to be thoughtful about the need to restaff sections before the Fall semester begins. Please submit applications by July 19 so that selections can be made and faculty and department chairs can be notified. |
Senate Proposal on Salary Increases |
This Monday, July 1, our Board of Trustees will weigh in on salary adjustments for next year. The budget currently includes a salary adjustment for most employees, including faculty, of only 4.5%. Contrary to common belief, we are not currently the best paid faculty in the state. Much more concerning, though, is the erosion of our salaries over the last several years. Inflation makes this erosion harder to detect. After looking at inflation over an eight year period, the Senate Salary and Benefits Committee recommends a salary adjustment of 8.5% for FY25.I encourage everyone to come and support this proposal this Monday at the Board meeting, starting at 4 pm, in the boardroom at HLC, building 3000, room 2110. From the parking lot it is easiest to get there at the South entrance. Please plan on attending for about 45 minutes to an hour, when the employee associations have finished their reports to the Board. Our presence can make a big impression on the Board. You can also volunteer to speak during Citizens’ Communication near the beginning of the meeting. More information is at: https://offices.austincc.edu/board-of-trustees/board-meetings/ Juan |
