Dear Faculty Colleagues,
I’m writing today with the results of our general election. The process of running our elections is a big task, and it couldn’t be done without the work of many people. Before announcing the results, I want to take a moment to thank the people who helped our election proceed smoothly.
Jennifer Brimberry was the chair of our nominating committee. She and the rest of her team, including Kelli Blount, Julz Decker, and Irena Klaic, handled the process of collecting nominees and candidate statements. David Haney was the chair of our auditing and elections committee. He handled ballot creation and vote tallying along with his team: Renee Kuhles, Emily Olson, and Barbara Powell. I’m incredibly grateful to all of these folks. Thank you!
President-Elect
I’m pleased to announce that Samantha Croft is our President-Elect for 2020-2021. I know she’ll do an amazing job supporting our incoming President, Wayne Butler. I hope you’ll join me in offering your congratulations to Sam. Whoo hoo!
Bylaws
I’m also pleased to announce that the proposed bylaws have PASSED. This is AMAZING news, as this update has been in the works for three years.
Updating the bylaws was a giant job that was handled masterfully by our bylaws committee. These folks spent hours thinking, editing, and wordsmithing. They also carefully explained their work to me and the entire Senate, and responded to countless questions and requests for further research. Their tireless efforts made this update possible. I’m very thankful for the efforts of chair, Jon Luckstead, and members Don Becker and Gabrielle Davis.
Senators
Lastly, I want to thank all the faculty members who ran for senator. Being a part of the Senate is important work, and I appreciate everyone who was willing to serve. You can see the complete list of senators for 2020-21 (along with all the other election details) on the election results document. Congratulations to all who have been chosen to serve! I will be in touch next week with all of the newly elected senators.
Thanks to everyone who participated in our election. I think we have a terrific Senate for 2020-21, and I look forward to working with all of you to continue our tradition of service.
Best,
