Dear Faculty Colleagues,

I am going to have to ask for your patience this week. I know that this week is full of many changes, and your inbox is probably overloaded. That said, it is looking like I’ll be adding to that overload because I have more to communicate about than can fit into the Senate Standard this week.

Please take a peek and know that I’m sending you all my best wishes to you for a smooth transition to online work this week.

Senate Nominations[Second call – due April 6]

Nominations for the 2020-21 Full-Time Faculty Senate – As mentioned in some previous communications, we are a bit behind on the election process for this year. The bylaws state the following:

The slate of nominees shall be announced to the full-time faculty no later than March 10. If any faculty member, for any reason, wishes to make nominations in addition to those on the slate presented by the Nominating Committee, such must be submitted to the Nominating Committee by March 25. All additional nominations shall be added to the ballot.

Given all that is going on, we’ve pushed this process back a little, so our new dates are as follows:

• First round due by 3/27 – complete

• Share current slate by 3/30/20 – complete

• Open window for additional nominations, due by 4/6

• Open for voting on 4/10, with votes Due by 4/20

• Announcement of senate seats on 4/23 (this will be back on our required schedule)

Please take a moment to review the current list of nominees in the link above. It would be good to ensure your name appears if you think you nominated yourself. In addition, consider nominating yourself or a colleague ESPECIALLY if there are open slots at a given campus. It is important that we have motivated and engaged faculty to serve as senators. We will also need a collaborative and organized person to serve as our President-Elect. To to ensure that faculty are well represented in college-wide decision making, we really need faculty to fill all the spots allotted at every campus.

Note that you may only nominate a person from your own campus as senator, but you may nominate any full-time faculty member for President-Elect.

By April 6, Nominate a faculty member for:

• the position of Senator

• the position of President-Elect

Sharing Online Teaching Successes

As all of us navigate the new challenges of transitioning to online, there are bound to be “uh-ohs” and “whoo-hoos”. I would love to hear your successes, in hopes that we can all learn from each other.

Please share best practices or other successes on this document, and read about what your colleagues are doing. It is my hope that as this document grows, you’ll find some inspiration here. Keep it positive, focus on the GOOD, celebrate your students and your colleagues, and let’s make learning happen online at ACC.

Thanks for all you are doing to keep education a priority during these challenging times. I can’t imagine a better group of people to be working with to help our students.

Best,
