Dear Faculty Colleagues,

At our most recent Senate meeting, I was asked by senators to get complete instructions for how students can change their letter grade to pass/no pass. I’ve now gotten a copy of the letter that was sent to students by Dr. Shasta Buchanan, which shares everything students need to know about pass/no pass.

If any of your students have questions about how to convert their grade, please feel free to share the document above. You should also know that there is nothing for faculty to do. You will turn your grades in as usual, and then students will make the decision whether or not to convert. They will also be in charge of filing the request to convert. You will not need to be involved in the process except for sharing this information with your students if you choose to do so.

For incompletes, faculty WILL need to be involved, and you should have gotten detailed instructions about that from Mike Midgley in his recent memo entitled “[Full-Time Faculty] Updates and Reminders on End of Semester Issues”.

Thanks for all you do to help students during these rapidly changing times!

Best,
