What is the Faculty Senate?
The Faculty Senate is a shared governance group of full-time faculty from across ACC whose function is to be the representative voice of the full-time faculty to the administration. It is an outstanding opportunity to impact advancing the goals of our faculty and college directly. More information about the Faculty Senate’s purpose can be found here. More information about shared governance at ACC can be found here.
What are the responsibilities and time commitments for a Senator?
Senators are expected to serve as a liaison between their constituencies and the Senate by communicating and advocating for this group. They must attend our monthly Faculty Senate meetings on the second Friday of the month from 12-1:30 pm. There are also optional opportunities to serve on committees and run for Senate Leadership Positions. These are one-year terms running from August 2022 through July 2023.  More details on Senator responsibilities can be found here.
What are the responsibilities of the President-elect?
The President-elect will fill in for the President as needed and consult with and advise the President when appropriate. In addition, this position requires attendance at all monthly Faculty Senate meetings and several other monthly leadership team and shared governance meetings. More details on the President-elect’s responsibilities can be found here.
Who is eligible?
Any full-time faculty can be a Senator or President-elect. However, faculty who have served as a Senator for three consecutive years must wait a year before running again.More details about Senate eligibility can be found here
